James Dearden is a British writer, direction and producer best known for the 1980 short film Diversion, which he would go onto adapt the 1987 film Fatal Attraction.

Aside from the film, Dearden also went onto produce the Fatal Attraction (play) in 2014. Most recently, he was co-writer in Pilot, The Movie In Your Mind and Medial Woman; three episodes of the Fatal Attraction (TV Series) on Paramount+.
